This is a clean, friendly diner. I had a breakfast burrito, which was excellent. The home fries weren't for me (I prefer hash browns) , so I'll have a fruit cup when I return. Overall, this is a terrific choice.

This is an absolute GEM! We were a party of two and were a little worried about finding a quick table since this place is so tiny when we stopped in for a Sunday breakfast. We were seated immediately! This is a place for small groups (2s and 3s), anything larger might expect a bit of a wait. They do have some outdoor seating for the summer. We got the Eagles Nest (eggs Benedict with corned beef hash), the Workin' Man (eggs, biscuits, and sausage gravy), and split a pancake. I have been dreaming about these sausage and biscuits since I ate them because they were so buttery and amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough! We ordered a plain pancake but the kitchen accidentally made their special pumpkin. They were going to remake it for us but we said we were happy to have that one. It was packed with spices and very tasty. The servers were all lovely and welcoming. I absolutely LOVED this place. We live across the state but we will make the trip to be back, it's worth it!

We came here during the week for a late breakfast and the day we came there was no AC, but they had plenty of fans to keep the place cool. The place was empty, which was great because we were able to sit right away. We ordered the chicken and waffles along with the big rig which came with French toast, eggs, sausage(I went with the sausage) or bacon, and home fries. The chicken was great and had a nice little kick to it with the spicy maple syrup and the waffle was also light and fluffy. The French toast was also sweet even without syrup on it and was light and fluffy as well. Not a big fan of the homemade sausage because it tasted more like a hamburger. Great place for breakfast overall. Pay cash and save.

Tried Jax Diner for the first time (party of 4) everyone ordered something different and enjoyed their breakfast. So much so, our kids went back the next day for more perfect pancakes. Clean, welcoming, great service and delicious breakfast.

Our 2 breakfasts at Jax Diner were the highlight of our trip to Rhode Island. Every single thing we ate was fabulous. Don't you just love a little diner that feels like a best kept secret? The staff is by far and away my favorite thing about Jax. There's this host of young people making it all flow with this sunshine-y energy. But the star of the restaurant is the woman, whose name I sadly do not know, who is a server, and key member of the team, maybe she's the owner--she is the reason we went back on day 2. Just friendly, chatty, helpful. funny, truly kind and generous of spirit. And I'm back at home after my vacation in Rhode Island feeling like I won't have a this good a breakfast until I get back to Jax, since my mother is not alive. Berry-licious! The Omelette! The Hog! And here is something that is never ever this good at restaurants: THE BISCUITS AND GRAVY. It's like they got my mom to come down from Heaven and make the biscuits and gravy. Go to R.I. Go to Jax. Thank me later. Say hi to the nice lady for me. I'm the one who has the daughter with the smile.

Have visited twice now - once to dine in and another to get takeout. The food is very good! Excellent diner food. Their pancakes are PHENOMENAL. The portions of meat are generous and the bagels are good quality. I didn't love their iced tea (too bitter for my taste) or their home fries (plain fried potatoes, no seasonings). It's a bit more expensive than other places. The restaurant is small and appears to only accommodate one larger party at a time. Service was very friendly both visits!

Great addition to the limited Portsmouth dining scene! We had visited the predecessor a few years and although decent food and service, the place was in bad shape. Wind blowing in the windows, etc. Never returned. First visit the other AM. Remodeled and pleasant space, great staff, and a HUGE breakfast and lunch menu. We all had different breakfast combos and all were winners. Will be back to see how they do at lunch. Lots of parking. I expect this place will be visit especially on the weekends.

Walking in to this small cozy place, we were greeted promptly and everyone was super friendly and kind! Our server was so sweet! The menu looked really great- some very creative options and something for most. I ordered the garden omelet with egg white- to be honest, I was a little disappointed- it was overwhelmed with vegetables and hardly any egg white. The potatoes were really good. My son was really happy with his fluffernutter French toast- he even shared a bite with me- it was definitely nostalgic from the peanut butter and fluff sandwiches we had growing up! Also- side note- please fix the pothole in the drive through area in front of the front door... my son fell while walking out and I wouldn't want anyone else getting hurt.

This is our second time coming to the newly rebranded diner near our house. It's difficult sometimes to stand out from some of the other breakfast places around town. Service here is great, staff is very attentive. The restaurant can be a little noisy at times, which when you're just waking up can be a lot to handle! The restaurant must've had some feedback, because their potatoes used to be underwhelming, but this second trip they are light and crispy and certainly above average. Additionally, we highly recommend the gut buster omelette! The gravy really helps the dish standout.
